Dear Valued Rutherford County Library System Patrons,
The Rutherford County Library System is committed to providing collections and services that meet the needs of readers at every stage of life. In an effort to better organize our collections and clarify access levels, updates to library card access privileges will take effect beginning September 15, 2026.
All Young Adult Library Card privileges will transition to Teen Library Card privileges. The Teen Collection is intended for library patrons ages 13 to 17.
In addition, the Young Adult Collection will now be incorporated into the Adult Collection. Access to Young Adult materials will require All-Access library card privilege. The Young Adult Collection is intended for patrons ages 18 to 25.
These updates are part of our ongoing efforts to ensure our collections are clearly organized and accessible for patrons and families based on age and reading level needs. Parents and guardians are encouraged to review their child’s library card access settings and speak with library staff if they have questions regarding available card types or borrowing privileges.
