Get involved in a book or writers group at the library!

The next best thing to reading a book is discussing it with friends! There are many opportunities to be a part of a book club at one of the RCLS branches.

Afternoon Book Club at Linebaugh

The Afternoon Book Club meets on the 1st Thursday of each month at 1 p.m. in the Linebaugh Conference Room. The Afternoon Book Club reads a mixture of light and serious novels and nonfiction and enjoys outings several times a year.

Forever Young Book Club at Linebaugh

Forever Young Adult book club is a group of YA fans who are a little less “Y”(oung) and a bit more “A”(dult). Whether you’re a regular YA reader or you need a break from your usual “to read” list, all are welcome! Meets every third Saturday at 2:00 in the Meeting Room at Linebaugh. The Lit Wits Book Club meets on the 3rd Thursday of each month at 6:30 p.m. in the Linebaugh Conference Room. The Lit Wits Book Club is a small, informal group which holds lively discussions with nonjudgmental, warm, welcoming book lovers.

Comics and Graphic Novels Group meets on the 4th Thursday of each month at 6:30 p.m. This book group will focus on all genres of this format, revisiting classics as well as discussing more recent Graphic Novel titles. 

The Tuesday Morning Book Group  meets on the 4th Tuesday of each month at 10:00 a.m. in the Linebaugh Conference Room. The Tuesday night group reads a mixture of literary fiction, non-fiction, and classics.

The Murfreesboro Writers Group is a group of local writers who seek to improve their work through mutual critique. The group meets every Wednesday at 6:00 p.m. in the 2nd floor Conference Room at Linebaugh Library. Anyone interested in writing is welcome to visit to see if you’d like to join the group. You might hear science fiction, poetry, alternate reality, memoir, fantasy, mystery, literary fiction, or more. For more information, visit us on Facebook.

Join us at Linebaugh for our new Read It First Book Club for young readers each Friday at 4 pm. We’ll watch the movie adaptation on the last Friday of each month to compare the two!

March’s book is Alice in Wonderland by Lewis Caroll.

The Friends of Eagleville Library Book Club meets on the first Thursday of each month at 11 a.m. at the Eagleville Bicentennial Public Library. Everyone is welcome!

MGL Library’s Short & Sweet Book Club,  is a virtual short story book club that meets the last Thursday of each month. This club will focus on discussing short stories for those who prefer to quick reads from a variety of different genres. Every month we will discuss a different short story most of which are in the public domain.  Sit back, enjoy a short and sweet read, and join the discussion! 

“Books & Brews in the Boro” is an ebook club based out of the Technology Engagement Center. The plan is to meet monthly, off-site, at a fine, locally owned establishment.  
Our titles will be chosen using hoopla, which is FREE with your library card (which is also free!) – so there are no holds, no waiting, no kidding!

The Riverworlders: A SciFi/Fantasy Book Group meets on the 4th Wednesday of each month at 6:00 pm. This group meets in the Linebaugh Meeting Room on the 2nd floor. Click here to see the list of their monthly book choices for the year.

The TEC is partnering with the Science Friday podcast’s SciFri Book Club. We will meet on the last Friday of every month at 5:30 pm at the Technology Engagement Center to discuss their book club pick. You can find more information at: sciencefriday.com/scifri-book-club/.
