Linebaugh Public Library has partnered with AutismTN to launch new programs designed to make the
library more inclusive and welcoming for Autistic patrons, neurodiverse families, and the entire
community. Thanks to funding from the KFC Foundation, Linebaugh will now offer:
- A Sensory-Friendly Space: A relaxing area equipped with comfortable seating and resources to
support sensory needs. - Sensory Kits: Available for use in the library or to check out, these kits include stim aids and other
tools to enhance comfort during library visits or at home. - Updated Collections: Books and materials authored by Autistic people, offering neuro-affirming
perspectives and valuable insights into neurodiversity.
As part of this project, AutismTN will also host a free public program, “Introduction to the Autistic
Neurotype,” on January 25th at 10:00 am at Linebaugh Public Library. This engaging session will explore Autistic experiences and ways to create a more inclusive community.
“We are proud to work with AutismTN to foster greater understanding, inclusion, and accessibility in
Middle Tennessee,” said Mindy Barrett, Branch Manager at Linebaugh Public Library. “We hope this
reflects our commitment to ensuring all community members feel welcome, supported, and valued and
we encourage everyone to come explore how Linebaugh Public Library is evolving to better serve our
community.” For more information about these resources and programs, visit www.rclstn.org, or learn more about AutismTN’s work at https://autismtn.org.
