The Rutherford County Library System (RCLS) Board of Directors has appointed David Coutcher as Interim Director, effective immediately. “David’s deep understanding of our library system, combined with his experience in human resources and finance, makes him exceptionally well- suited to maintain day-to-day operations,” said Board Chair Cody York. “His focus will be on ensuring stability—keeping our branches open, bills paid, and essential administrative functions running smoothly—as we move forward with the national search for permanent leadership.”
In this interim capacity, Mr. Coutcher will implement existing Board policies, support branch managers, assist with the upcoming budget process, and avoid major new initiatives. The appointment prioritizes continuity of service to the residents of Rutherford County. Mr. Coutcher has been with the Rutherford
County Library System for just under 16 years. The Board expects to launch a formal search for a permanent Library Director in the coming weeks.
