Community Photograph Scanning Day
Community Photograph Scanning Day
The Historical Research Center and Main Street Murfreesboro are hosting a scanning day event to scan photographs taken within the boundaries of the historic downtown district from the 1800's to 1980 that represent the following subjects: original downtown buildings and businesses, historical figures downtown at events such as parades, political ceremonies, activities, celebrations, etc. Also, photographs of downtown streetscape and building facade changes over the decades. There will be two scanning days, May 2 and May 9, from 10 AM to 2 PM. Scanning will take place at the Historical Research Center inside the Rutherford County Archives. If you want to keep a digital copy of your photos, please bring with you a hard drive or a large flash drive to hold all of your photos as they will not be provided. All participants donating the use of their scanned photos to Main Street Murfreesboro for marketing and promotional purposes will be asked to sign a release form.

Curious about how art affects our emotions? Join us for a free, artist-led workshop on the 3rd Tuesday of each month in the 2nd floor Conference Room at Linebaugh Public Library. Artist CatieBeth Thomas has been volunteering as an art therapist, creating her own painted and fiber art works and teaching art since 2013. She is a native Tennesseean who believes everyone should have access to community spaces where they can express themselves.
