Community Photograph Scanning Day

Historical Research Center 435 Rice Street, Murfreesboro, TN, United States

The Historical Research Center and Main Street Murfreesboro are hosting a scanning day event to scan photographs taken within the boundaries of the historic downtown district from the 1800's to 1980 that represent the following subjects:  original downtown buildings and businesses, historical figures downtown at events such as parades, political ceremonies, activities, celebrations, etc.  Also, photographs of downtown streetscape and building facade changes over the decades. There will be two scanning days, May 2 and May 9, from 10 AM to 2 PM. Scanning will take place at the Historical Research Center inside the Rutherford County Archives. If you want to keep a digital copy of your photos, please bring with you a hard drive or a large flash drive to hold all of your photos as they will not be provided.  All participants donating the use of their scanned photos to Main Street Murfreesboro for marketing and promotional purposes will be asked to sign a release form.

Afternoon Book Group

Ahoy, mateys! Set sail for adventure at Tinker TEC in May! Join our crew as we hoist the Jolly Roger and uncover the treasures of knowledge through hands-on activities and immersive experiences. Sharpen your skills in navigation, design your own spyglass, and discover the secrets of the high seas. Don't miss out on this swashbuckling journey into the world of steam! Arrr!   Tinker TEC is free and open to the public. This STEAM themed programing is geared to kiddos ages 5-8, but all ages are welcome. Join us every Thursday in May from 3:30-4:00 pm.
