Art for Inner Exploration
Curious about how art affects our emotions? Join us for a free, artist-led workshop on the 3rd Tuesday of each month in the 2nd floor Conference Room at Linebaugh Public Library. Artist CatieBeth Thomas has been volunteering as an art therapist, creating her own painted and fiber art works and teaching art since 2013. She is a native Tennesseean who believes everyone should have access to community spaces where they can express themselves. Participants will explore color theory and their emotions, gratitude, and self love. These art classes will be from 5:30 - 6:30 pm, are for adults and teens, and all materials are provided. Linebaugh Public Library is pleased to host local author Brooks C. Harmon for a book signing on Saturday, April 27, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The author will be signing and selling copies of his book The Baseball King. The Baseball King is about a famous left-handed major-league baseball pitcher, Charlton Harmon. He has epilepsy and played for the Los Angeles Dodgers. He loves to tell others about God. Unexpectedly, Charlton passes away, and his son, Christian Harmon, who learned a lot from his dad, also has epilepsy and is a left-handed pitcher. Christian wants to form a team of his own and become great, just like his father. Christian faces many challenges in his life and on the baseball field as well. How Christian responds is a lesson for us all. Read how life and baseball are a lot alike, and what it is like to have God in our lives. Published by Christian Faith Publishing, Brooks C. Community Photograph Scanning Day
The Historical Research Center and Main Street Murfreesboro are hosting a scanning day event to scan photographs taken within the boundaries of the historic downtown district from the 1800's to 1980 that represent the following subjects: original downtown buildings and businesses, historical figures downtown at events such as parades, political ceremonies, activities, celebrations, etc. Also, photographs of downtown streetscape and building facade changes over the decades. There will be two scanning days, May 2 and May 9, from 10 AM to 2 PM. Scanning will take place at the Historical Research Center inside the Rutherford County Archives. If you want to keep a digital copy of your photos, please bring with you a hard drive or a large flash drive to hold all of your photos as they will not be provided. All participants donating the use of their scanned photos to Main Street Murfreesboro for marketing and promotional purposes will be asked to sign a release form.
