Senator Reeves Visits Smyrna Public Library

One cannot underestimate the power of a pop-in visit. After Smyrna Branch Manager Cassandra Taylor stopped in at State Senator Shane Reeves’ office for Library Legislative Day, he and his staff decided to return the favor. On Thursday, September 25, the 14th District senator toured the Smyrna Public library and met with staff and representatives from the Rutherford County and Regional Libraries.

“Readers are leaders.”

Ms. Taylor and her staff welcomed the Senator and showed him the ins and outs of a modern library–from the stacks to 3d printing. “RCLS was honored to host Senator Reeves for a site visit at the Smyrna Library….Senator Reeves remains a strong advocate for all public libraries in the state, and RCLS sincerely appreciates his ongoing support,” said RCLS director Luanne James.

Of the visit, Ms. Taylor said, “Senator Shane Reeves and I discussed all the ways Smyrna Public Library is working to provide access to great resources, programs, and connections to Rutherford County, and how support from stakeholders like him not only has a direct impact on library staff but the community as a whole. We were thrilled that he visited and cannot wait to see how we can continue to work together to serve all library patrons throughout our community.”

RCLS thanks the Senator for coming to visit the Smyrna Public Library and for his continued support of public libraries. We can’t wait for your next visit and hope to see you soon!
