Smyrna Virtual Storytime
Due to the recent rise in COVID-19 cases among local children and the subsequent closure of nearby schools, Smyrna Public Library will be cancelling in-person library programs for children until further notice. Children below the age of 12 are currently ineligible for COVID-19 vaccinations and are among the most vulnerable populations for virus transmission and infection.
During September, Smyrna Library will offer recorded Storytime videos, which will be posted on Facebook and YouTube on Wednesdays at 10am. The library will also offer children’s activity kits on a first-come-first-serve basis, which will be available each week for pickup in the Youth Services Department.
In-person library programs for adults and teens/tweens, ages 12 and up, will continue until further notice. Under current CDC guidance, masks and social distancing are highly recommended for in-person gatherings.
Smyrna Library will be monitoring local school policies and county infection rates closely throughout the month of September. The library will update the public in October on the status of in-person children’s programming.
