Linebaugh Public Library is pleased to host local author ReJean Johnson for a book signing on Thursday, September 12, from 3 to 6 pm. Johnson will be signing and selling copies of her book, Angels Among Us, published by ReJean Books in 2018.

Angels Among Us: How God Used Everyday People To Perform Modern-day Miracles In My Life is a narrative journey through Johnson’s story as an abused child. The book explains how that abuse affected Johnson’s life and how she was forced to learn to survive at a young age. Johnson’s faith in God and her determination to “never give up” kept her alive and helped her thrive.

Johnson was born and raised in a tough Detroit environment, where only the strong survive. She was abused by her mother and made an outcast in her own family, since she did not share the same biological father as her other six siblings. In order to avoid her family, Johnson frequently spent time away from home at church, the local community center and her friend’s house. Attempting to escape this toxic environment, Johnson moved in with her high school boyfriend’s family at 17, but this turned out to be a mistake, as abuse followed her there.

Johnson found hope in college and met other people who encouraged her to pursue her dreams. She became a teacher and met many children who had similar backgrounds to her own. Johnson wrote poetry while on a sabbatical from her teaching career and “accidentally” became a writer. This experience is what lead her to write and publish Angels Among Us.

Johnson will be selling copies for $14.99 each. Cash and Cards accepted.
