Linebaugh Public Library is proud to host The Rutherford County Master Gardeners for a series of classes. The classes are the first Saturday of each month, beginning March 5, at 9 a.m. in the library Conference Room on the 2nd floor. Each class is free and open to the public. Here are the topics for 2022:

March 5: Garden Placement and Planning. Planning and prep for a beginning gardener. 

April 2: Preparing Your Plot. Soils, drainage, soil additives and amendments.

May 7: From My Head to My Tomatoes. Learn all about growing tomatoes in TN, including varieties, fertilizing, and staking.

June 4: Growing Flowers and Supporting Pollinators. Annual versus perennial flowers; plants for shade versus those that love the sun; pollinators.

 July 2: What's Wrong with My Plant. Learn about environmental, insect, and disease issues with your plants so you can have a healthy garden.

August 6: Trees and Shrubs in TN. Plant recommendations, screen trees, flowering trees, and proper planting.

September 3: Fall Vegetable Gardening. What is a fall vegetable crop? What can you plant now to get another season out of your garden?

October 1: End of Summer Tasks. Learn how to put your summer garden to bed for the winter, overwintering plants, and tool maintenance.

November 5: Becoming a Master Gardener Open House. Learn about the Master Gardener program and have a chance to talk to certified Master Gardeners and complete an application.
