Youth Services Assistant - Part Time - Myrtle Glanton Lord Library (MGL)

The MGL Public Library, located inside Patterson Park Community Center and part of the Rutherford County Library System (RCLS), is accepting applications for a  part-time Youth Services Assistant. This position assists the Branch Supervisor in the performance of duties related to the Children and Young Adult programs and assists at the Circulation Desk. Duties include but are not limited to: assisting in planning, scheduling, advertising, and delivering public story hours, summer reading programs, and other activities; assisting in planning, preparing, and conducting programs for visiting groups; assisting teachers and schools in scheduling library visits; assisting in planning and scheduling library tours; assisting in identifying and recommending needed books and materials; operating automation system used by RCLS; providing information to patrons regarding library programs and services; performing readers advisory services, and assisting patrons and instructing them in the use of library automation systems and resources. This position is classified as Non-Exempt for the purpose of the Fair Labor Standards Act. Evenings and weekends may be required.

Qualifications: High School diploma or G.E.D. equivalent or above and a minimum of 1-year recent experience working with children or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Bookmobile Driver/Library Assistant - Part Time - Linebaugh Library

Rutherford County Library System is seeking a part-time Bookmobile Driver/Library Assistant. This position facilitates the delivery of library materials and information to the various bookmobile stops; provides readers' advisory service to patrons; participates in the daily circulation of library materials to all ages on and off the bookmobile; assists with programming and other outreach efforts; performs annual inventory, maintain shelves, and weeding of the bookmobile collection; maintains the vehicle in good working order by performing daily inspections, scheduling routine maintenance and repairs and refueling the vehicle on a regular basis; keeps accurate records of mileage and maintenance requirements; cleans inside and outside of the vehicle which may include vacuuming, dusting, cleaning windows, and washing exterior. This position also helps in the circulating of books and other library materials; assisting patrons in locating and using needed materials; assisting patrons in accessing and using databases; assisting patrons in using computers and conducting research on the Internet; assisting patrons in locating library materials in various areas of the library; performing daily maintenance of periodicals. This is an entry-level position and is classified as Non-Exempt for the purpose of the Fair Labor Standards Act. Evenings and weekends may be required.

Qualifications: High School diploma or G.E.D. equivalent or above. Professional driving experience preferred; must be 21 years of age or older; possess a valid Tennessee Driver’s License with a clean driving record.
