Library Branch Manager - Full Time – Technology Engagement Center (TEC)

Rutherford County Library System (RCLS) seeks a full-time Library Manager to lead the Technology Engagement Center (TEC). This is a mid/upper-level management position overseeing an all-digital library slating to open Summer 2018. Duties include, but are not limited to: responsible for daily operation of the TEC; assists in selecting, training, and supervising personnel at the TEC; supervises maintenance of building and grounds; assists in selection and management of system-wide online databases; prepares and submits various statistical reports to RCLS Board and Stones River Regional Library; assists in developing operating budget; assesses community needs to determine library service responses; Plans, organizes and regularly evaluates a program of services that support the mission of the technology center and RCLS; develops, coordinates, schedules and supervises the delivery of program and services by or provided directly by the TEC; maintains a network of resource business assistance organizations, business professionals, and economic development agencies in support of the TEC’s client needs; prepares and implements grants; and plans, conducts, teaches, trains and/or attends various departmental meetings. This position is classified as Exempt for the purpose of the Fair Labor Standards Act.

Qualifications: Bachelor's degree, Master of Library and Information Science (or equivalent) degree, and at least five years of progressively responsible library management experience required; or, any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position. For more information, please read the job description here: PDF iconBranch Manager

Salary: $47,500 per year, plus extensive benefits package.

Youth Services Assistant - Part Time - MGL

The MGL Public Library within the Rutherford County Library System is accepting applications for a Youth Services Assistant. This position assists the Branch Supervisor in the performance of duties related to the Children and Young Adult programs and assists at the Circulation Desk. Duties include but are not limited to: assisting in planning, scheduling, advertising, and delivering public story hours, summer reading programs, and other activities; assisting in planning, preparing, and conducting programs for visiting groups; assisting teachers and schools in scheduling library visits; assisting in planning and scheduling library tours; assisting in identifying and recommending needed books and materials; operating automation system used by Rutherford County Library System; providing information to patrons regarding library programs and services; performing readers advisory services; and assisting patrons and instructing them in the use of library automation systems and resources. This position is classified as Non-Exempt for the purpose of the Fair Labor Standards Act. Evenings and weekends may be required.

Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent required. Experience working with the public, completion of library workshop courses or college courses, prior library or teaching experience, and prior employment working with children, pre-teens, and teens preferred.

Library Associate - Part Time - Technology Engagement Center (TEC)

The Technology Engagement Center (TEC), of the Rutherford County Library System, a new all-digital library, is accepting applications for several part-time Library Associate positions. The position of Library Associate is responsible for performing various duties primarily concerning the operation of the Circulation/Information departments within the Rutherford County Library System. This employee has extensive contact with the public. Duties include, but are not limited to: the circulating of library materials, assisting patrons in locating and using needed materials; assisting patrons in accessing and using databases; assisting patrons in using computers and conducting research on the Internet; assisting patrons in locating library materials in various areas of the library; and performing readers advisory services. This is an entry-level position. This position is classified as Non-Exempt for the purpose of the Fair Labor Standards Act. Evenings and weekends may be required.

Qualifications: Must be at least 18 years old. High school diploma or equivalent required. Prior experience working in customer service environment preferred. Prior library experience desired. Bachelor's degree from an accredited college desired.
